Nantou River Tracing Destinations

Nantou County is located at significantly higher elevation in central Taiwan. Most of the rivers and creeks are flowing down from 3000-meter tall peaks and will feature significantly colder water compared to Hualien, Taitung and Taipei. Multiple creeks and rivers in Nantou have carved deep enough into the bedrock for there to be a large amount of hot spring outcrops around. The Taluowan River that flows down into Lushan, and both Wanda North Creek and Wanda South Creek have several hot spring outcrops. The Lushan Hot Spring Area has developed commercial hot springs, and many more are located in the river and creek beds nearby. While the hot springs at Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area are not developed, they are ideal for enjoyable semi-remote hot spring camping trips.
